Prof. Wang graduated from Tsinghua University in 1987 and got a Master Degree and a Ph.D Degree of Materials Physics in 1990 and 1993 respectively from Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT), Chinese Academy of Sciences.
He worked as a Research Assistant of SIMIT from 1993 to 1994. During this period he worked in Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization as a visiting scholar from July 1993 to May 1994. Then he worked successively as Associate Researcher, Deputy Head of Laboratory, Researcher and Head of Laboratory from 1994 to 2004. During this period he worked in Forschungszentrum Rossendorf as a “Humboldt” Fellow from May 1996 to June 1998. He was awarded the Special Government Allowance of the State Council in 1998 as well as the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 1999. He was elected as Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009. He started to be General Director of SIMIT since July 2010.
