Dr.Yunli Li
CEO, PlayNitride Inc.

Yun-Li (Charles) Li is currently the CEO of PlayNitride Inc., a design house of Nitride-based devices and systems. Li received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from National Taiwan University in 1995. After two-year military service, he moved to United States to pursue his graduate studies. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2003 under the advisement of Prof. Fred Schubert.
PlayNitride Inc., founded in 2014, is the first fabless Nitride-material-based design house in Taiwan, China. The company focuses on innovation and integration of Nitride-material-related technologies.
Abstract

UV curing technology is originally introduced in 1960’s and has been widely applied to many industries including automotive, touch panel, and printing, etc.. Conventional UV curing systems adopt traditional UV mercury-vapor lamps to produce UV photons in a quartz tube.
Recently, UV LED technology has been improved to the point that UV LED light source can be a better alternative to traditional mercury-based light source. UV LED curing technology offers many advantages on curing productivity and quality over traditional curing technologies, such as (1) longer lifetime, (2) lower power consumption, (3) faster on/off time, (4) less heat-up during curing process…
However, there are still a few critical limitations. One of them is the low UV irradiance at longer working distances. PlayNitride Inc. and SolidUV have co-developed novel UV-LED curing technologies for ultra-high irradiance with long working distances.
