Cyril Pernot is working in the compound-semiconductors field since 1997. He received a PhD degree in Physics from the University of Montpellier in 2000 for his work on AlGaN-based UV-photodetectors. Since 2007 he is involved in the development of AlGaN-based UV-LED and he is currently in charge of the crystal growth section at NIKKISO Co., Ltd for the production of UV LED epitaxial wafers. Abstract . Following the impressive development of nitride-based blue and white LED, UVA LED with wavelength above 360 nm are now addressing markets of several hundreds of millions Euros. For Deep UV (DUV) LED, there are also a lot of expectations as the benefits of LED compare to conventional UV light source can lead similarly to a revolution in several UV applications such as water, air or surface disinfection. In this presentation we will review the present status of commercially available DUV LED and present the latest performance achieved at the device level but also at the module level. We believe that the recent improvements will contribute significantly to the penetration of DUV LED technology in worldwide markets. |
