Dr. Somnath Nag brings over 27 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. He started his career at Texas Instruments’ Houston fab and later at the Dallas Silicon Lab. At TI he drove industry's first adoption of HDP for STI, several generations of low-k for ILD and 300mm processing. Subsequently, he spent many years doing process, integration and equipment development at Novellus Systems where he commercialized dielectric, tungsten and Low-k technologies, and Applied Materials where he was responsible for developing large batch ALD. Later as VP of Technology and Engineering at Aixtron he led the development of single-wafer ALD and MOCVD products. He also spent several years in the solar industry where he co-founded two ventures, developed the product and built them up to operating companies.
He is currently responsible for Global Product Management for all Dielectric CVD products at Applied Materials. In his current role he leads the strategy on DCVD Products and direction of market penetration. During his career, he had a range of responsibilities including various levels of management when he built and led organizations doing development, support and product marketing. Dr. Nag has over 30 patents granted and several publications in the area of electronic and optical thin film technology. He has a B.Tech from IIT-Bombay and Ph.D. from Penn State with focus on Silicon technology.
