Dr. Sowmya KRISHNAN

Dr. Krishnan is the CEO and founder of SEMITRAC a company focused on technology solutions in the semiconductor equipment and solar industry. Dr. Krishnan recently served as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Ultra Clean Technology, ( UCT) a semiconductor equipment subsystem company with annual revenues of ~ 400M. As an executive member Dr. Krishnan made significant contributions over the past 13 years positioning the company for a successful acquisition by Francisco Partners in 2000 and a successful IPO in 2004. In her role as Chief Technology Officer, after going public, she was responsible for the overall technology direction as well as due diligence related to mergers and acquisitions, and was a key player in the successful acquisition and integration of Sieger Engineering ($100M revenue ) by UCT .

Dr. Krishnan also served as a director of Ultra Clean Technology Systems and Services Inc. the parent company of Ultra Clean Technology as well as a member on the board of UCT subsidiary, UCT-Shanghai. She also serves on the board of RITSnet Inc. a IT company providing remote network management solutions.

Dr. Krishnan has been active in various industry forums and is a well respected and visible thought leader in the fields of microcontamination and semiconductor processing.

She has served as symposium chair for various conferences sessions at Semicon West, Semicon Southwest, ISTC and conducted tutorials for CleanRooms West. She has been an invited speaker at NorthWestern University and served as an invited guest editor for special editions of Solid State Technology and CleanRooms. She also served on the editorial advisory board for CleanRooms Magazine for over 5 years. She has chaired SEMI standards task forces and and led the effort to set industry standards related to critical subsystems. She holds two U.S. patents. She has authored over 25 technical papers and editorials.

Dr. Krishnan received her MS and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. Her research interests include microcontamination, semiconductor equipment subsystems, fluid delivery, metrology, semiconductor processes, thin film growth, epitaxial growth of Si/ SiGe heterostructures and devices.

She is a member of the board of Kidango, a non-profit organization serving the needs of underprivileged pre-school children in the northern California.
