Dr. Sanjay Natarajan

Vice President
Applied Materials

Sanjay Natarajan is a Corporate Vice President at Applied Materials, the leader in materials engineering solutions used to produce virtually every new chip and advanced display in the world. His focus is on how to develop new types of semiconductor equipment to enable ongoing improvements in semiconductor devices (aka, "Moore's Law").

Before joining Applied Materials, he spent 22 years at Intel Corporation in semiconductor R&D. He most recently led the development of Intel's 14nm high-performance process technology and, prior to that, he managed development of Intel's industry-leading 32nm logic technology. He has published numerous papers in science and engineering journals and holds several patents in the area of advanced high-performance semiconductor fabrication technology.

Outside of work, Natarajan plays an active role in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education with the local academic community, and he is a Research Professor at Portland State University, conducting research in the exciting new field of 3D Bioprinting, using 3D printers to print viable human tissues and organs. He is an IEEE member and has served on paper-selection committees for the semiconductor industry's primary research and development conference.

Natarajan received a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
