Prof. Tobias Delbruck

Professor in Neuromorphic Engineering,
Institute of Neuroinformatics, Switzerland

Prof. Tobias Delbruck is a distinguished expert in neuromorphic and brain-inspired sensory processing. His significant contributions include the development of spike-event-based silicon retina vision sensors, along with pioneering work on event-based algorithms and their applications in AI. Delbruck earned his Ph.D. in Computation and Neural Systems with Prof. Carver Mead, the founder of modern neuromorphic engineering, from California Institute of Technology.

In 1998, he joined the Institute of Neuroinformatics, a joint institute of ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich, where he is now a Professor in Neuromorphic Engineering. Among his accolades, Delbruck was honored as an IEEE Fellow and has received seven IEEE awards, including the prestigious Jan van Vesem Outstanding European Paper award at ISSCC 2006. Furthermore, he has made significant strides in innovation, holding seven patents and co-founding inilabs GmbH.
