Beichao Zhang, Assistant Director of Technology Research & Development
Dr. Zhang joined SMIC in 2010 as Deputy Director. Currently he is responsible for advanced metal and dielectric film developments at TD, SMIC.
Prior to SMIC, Dr. Zhang was a process integration manager at TD of Chartered of Singapore (later GlobalFoundries). In this employment, he spent more than 12 years, including 2.5 years at IBM, USA, on semiconductor processes and process integration development. In Singapore, Dr. Zhang was also an Adjunct Researcher/Teaching Fellow to National University of Singapore.
Prior to Chartered, he was with University of Sydney, Australia for 3 years, as a postdoctoral research fellow, working on studies of thin film deposition, characterization and plasma deposition source development. Dr. Zhang obtained Ph.D. degree in Australian National University, Australia, M.Sc. degree in Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Science, and B.Sc. degrees in Solid State Physics in Anhui University.
Before his overseas education and job careers, Dr. Zhang worked at Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Science for 5 years.
Dr. Zhang holds 27 US patents, and has authored or co-authored over 35 technical papers.
